Thanks in large part to his work as a private driver coach, Sam has enjoyed the great privilege of competing some of the world's most desirable historic racing cars on behalf of their owners at events such as Goodwood, Monaco Historique and Le Mans Classic.
In doing so he has proved highly adept in a wide variety of machinery and has been called upon for set-up assistance, development driving and co-driving.
Multiple car owners have seen significant returns on their comparatively small investment in Sam thanks to his results helping the cars appreciate in value and recognition.
Among the many historic race wins and podiums, highlights include taking victory, pole position, and setting the outright fastest lap of the entire 2005 Goodwood Revival meeting aboard Sir Anthony Bamford's GT40. Also setting pole position and finishing second in Stefan Ziegler's ex-Ecurie Ecosse Jaguar C-Type in 2013's Freddie March Memorial Trophy at Goodwood.
In addition to driving, Sam can help owners and classic car dealers market special cars by arranging track test feature articles in prominent industry magazines such as Motorsport, Octane and Autosport. Indeed, in one such feature, the Porsche RSR pictured below made the front cover of Motorsport!
Finally, you can also use Sam's extensive experience within the industry and network of trustworthy and reliable contacts to help you with car purchasing advice, along with suitable recommendations for restoration and race preparation.
If you are a historic car racer or collector and feel that Sam's experience can be of value, please do not hesitate to contact him directly.
" I have been working together with Sam Hancock since March 2010. Starting with comprehensive driver coaching in 2010, Sam became my coach and co-driver for the racing seasons 2011 and 2012. Sam also drove some of my historic cars at important, prestigious racing events such as Le Mans Classic or the Goodwood Revival.
Sam's approach to driver coaching is most professional, thought-trough and profound. Sam not only possesses incredible driving skills but has the rare combination of these coupled with highest analytical skills and a ability to explain even subtle issues of driving. Sam will pick up even small issues while being on the passenger seat or analysing data graphs, and will then discuss these with you and point you into the right direction to correct these.
In his coaching, he understands the necessity to focus and set priorities. His friendly, positive attitude are of great help and make his driver coaching thoroughly enjoyable.
Sharing the cars during the race season of 2011/12 combined the coaching of Sam with the possibility to work with a true pro on the race track and everything surrounding racing. Sam's input and support extended far beyond driver coaching and benefited almost every aspect of race preparation, race support, pit strategy, logistics and much more. Also here, working with Sam has been most enjoyable and he was very much liked by all team members and mechanics alike.
Sam's performance when driving my historic cars was spectacular and the cars never have been going faster before. However, despite being fast, Sam's driving was characterized by a very high degree of mechanical sympathy, respect for these important, historic cars and caution. He has been a very safe pair of hands and his debrief was revealing and most helpful for the mechanics supporting these cars.
All in all, it has been a privilege and great pleasure to work together with Sam and I hope that our relation will long last. I certainly can recommend the services of Sam without any hint of reservation."
