Sam Hancock set the outright fastest lap of the race and was awarded Driver of the Day honours at a rain lashed Algarve Historic Festival last Sunday.
Hancock, at the wheel of co-driver Stefan Ziegler's Lister Jaguar, had to start from the back of the Stirling Moss Trophy grid after a last minute glitch kept the car in the pit garage for longer than is allowed just prior to the race.
But a tenacious drive in torrential weather conditions saw Sam elevate the car to as high as third overall in the course of his opening stint, catching the leading duo by up to five seconds per lap.
Taking the reigns at the half-way point, Ziegler had to contend with both a puncture and faulty headlights, leaving him with minimal visibility as dark descended at the toward the end of the 3 hour enduro.
But a valient drive from the Swiss, combined with McLaren-esque pit work from the crew to fix the puncture, was enough to secure the pairing a solid top ten finish from a thorough enjoyable contest.
