Fancy a weekend driving Porsches on a frozen lake? So do I...
I've teamed up with ice driving school, Below Zero, to create a fantastic driver training opportunity on their frozen lake in Sweden next month.
Suitable for both beginners and highly experienced drivers alike, it will be one helluva weekend and a chance to develop some serious car control.
We have just a few spots remaining on March 8-9 (outbound travel March 7, return March 10), so act now to secure your place! Full details below... email email@example.com to register your interest.
Hope to see you on the ice!
SAM HANCOCK X BELOW ZERO: ICE DRIVING TRIP 2014
Private Ice Driving trip for a maximum of 12 people (2 people per car), arranged by Sam Hancock & Below Zero. Ideal for those looking to improve their car control skills and general driving ability (or anyone who just fancies some serious fun!).
Below Zero’s exclusive frozen lake near the Åre region of Sweden.
Weekend of March 8-9, 2014 (arrive evening of Fri, March 7, enjoy TWO DAYS on the ice, return Mon, March 10)
Who are Below Zero?
Having extensively researched all of the ice driving providers in operation, I have hand picked Below Zero as ideal driver training partners thanks to their use of cars that are utterly void of computer controlled driver aides - leaving you, the driver, firmly in control (or not!). Their rally prepared Porsche 911s are well established as exceptional training vehicles, guaranteed to challenge and thrill even the most capable drivers, while also being friendly enough to welcome newcomers.
Below Zero will provide expert, specialist ice driving instructors, ensuring you learn from the best. Tuition is as relaxed or intensive as you would like and drivers will be encouraged to push the cars to their limit. You will have all day behind the wheel to perfect your technique and, for those of you whom I coach, I will be on hand to assist and make sure it relates back to what we do on the track.
Venue & Location
Based on their own exclusive lake in the stunning Åre region of Sweden, there is a 6km stage cut on the lake, plus a variety of training circuits and a slalom area. Drivers will warm up on the inner circuits and move onto the narrow, more technically demanding, lake stage as they grow more confident over the two days. Breaks and beverages will be taken by the lake and a delicious hot lunch served in a remote, authentic Swedish Hunting Lodge.
All cars are competition prepared rally Porsche 911s built by highly reputable outfit, Tuthill Porsche in the UK. They are unlike normal road cars and perfectly suited to the environment. Each car will be shared by two people, but if you particularly wanted a car to yourself, this can be arranged by special request.
Below Zero provide a comprehensive spares package together with support vehicles and technicians to service the rally cars and keep you behind the wheel for as long as possible. Cars are insured, subject to a GBP 2,500 excess for which you will be liable in the event of damage.
Accommodation is not included in the price but can be arranged on request, or you can make your own arrangements. There are a number of very nice hotels a short distance away, including the Kall Auto Lodge which is closest to the lake (usually has limited availability). Transfers between the lake and your hotel are included.
Östersund (OSD) is the nearest airport, which is about an hour by car from the lake, or alternatively you could fly to Trondheim (TRD), which is about two hours. Both are serviced by connecting flights from the UK and mainland Europe. Flights and transfers to/from the airport are not included, but group transport may be arranged on request. Most guests hire cars or taxis from the airport, however some chose to transfer by helicopter. If this is something you would like, this can also be arranged.
TBC subject to number of participants (circa £3,500 per person for two full days on the ice, including all instruction, mechanical support, vehicles and running costs. Travel & accommodation not included. Hotel bills to be settled directly with the hotel.)
